The wireless network at Arizona State University is open and available, allowing easy access to the Internet from anywhere, anytime. Because ASU's wireless network is not password protected, it's classified as an "unsecured" network.

ASU now uses CAPTCHA as part of the authentication process to protect computer accounts from hackers and bots. CAPTCHA is an acronym for "completely automated public Turing test to tell computers and humans apart." The idea is to have humans respond to the Captcha challenge-response test if they've made an error entering their username or passward a specified number of times during the log in process. SSLVPN is a secure remote network access point that allows you to connect to the ASU network from off campus.  You can access secure resources, including Advantage, departmental services, your workstation, or other services outside of the Web by installing the SSLVPN client onto your machine.
