Q: How do I get access to My Reports?

Q: When I attempt to log into My Reports, I get an error message "Please supply valid name and id". What does this mean?

Accessing My Reports

Q: How do I get access?
A: Access can be requested using the online forms at http://forms.asu.edu. The help article at http://help.asu.edu/sims/selfhelp/SelfhelpKbView.seam?parature_id=8373-8193-6826 can provide more information about requesting access.

Q: When I attempt to log into My Reports, I get an error message "Please supply valid name and id". What does this mean?
A: Your My Reports user name and password is the same as your ASURITE. If you have not requested access to Hyperion 11, you will receive this error message. To apply for access, please visit the Request Access article at: http://help.asu.edu/sims/selfhelp/SelfhelpKbView.seam?parature_id=8373-8193-6826. To check the status of a form you have submitted, go to http://forms.asu.edu and click on the My Submitted Forms link.

Q: When I attempt to log into My Reports, I get a strange page that says "Bindows".  What does this mean?
A: This typically indicates that your computer has been upgraded to Internet Explorer (IE) 11.  If your computer has been recently upgraded to Internet Explorer (IE) 11 and already have the Hyperion plugin installed, you will need to reapply your IE settings with the instructions found at http://help.asu.edu/sims/selfhelp/SelfhelpKbView.seam?parature_id=8373-8193-4508

Using My Reports

Q: When I try to open a prebulit report all I get is a blank screen. How can I change this?
A: If you are accessing My Reports using Internet Explorer (IE) 8 directly, be sure that the Interactive plugin has been installed. Instructions can be found at: http://help.asu.edu/sims/selfhelp/SelfhelpKbView.seam?parature_id=8373-8193-6821.

Q: Why don't I see the "Process" button when I open a query?
A: Be sure to change your preferences within Hyperion to default to Interactive. Instructions can be found at: http://help.asu.edu/sims/selfhelp/SelfhelpKbView.seam?parature_id=8373-8193-6823.

Q: Why does it take so long for my report to open?
A:This usually happens when the results have been saved within the document. Saving results within the document can potentially cause a file to become corrupted. To change this:

  • Open the report.
  • From the main menu, select File > Save Options > Save Results With Document...
  • Uncheck any selected boxes under Query Results.
  • Click on OK.
  • Resave the report.

Q: When I drag more than one table into a report, the tables automatically join together with multiple lines. Should this be disabled?
A:Yes. The process to disable the auto-join of tables is:

  • Open the report.
  • Click on the Query section.
  • From the main menu, click on DataModel>Data Model Options...
  • On the General tab, uncheck the box to the left of Auto join tables.
  • Click on the Save as Default button and then OK to close the window.

Q: My report is taking a long time to process. How do I cancel it?
A: You can attempt to cancel a query that has been submitted, click “Alt” & “End” keys simultaneously.

Q: I lost my menu or toolbars in My Reports. How do I get it back?
A:To make the main menu or toolbars visible:

  • Open any report.
  • Right click on any empty space in the gray toolbar area until you access the pull down menu. (This could take several tries.)
  • Select Menu.
  • From the now available main menu, click on View > Toolbar.
  • Select either Standard, Formatting or Section.

Q: When I try to join a field (such as Emplid) between two tables, I get a datatype error. How do I resolve that?
A: One approach to resolve this error is to create a computed item with the definition of ToChar(Emplid,"0"). Then create the join between the newly created computed item.

Everytime I open a report, I keep getting a message saying "This website wants to install the following add-on: Hyperion..." but I have already installed the Hyperion plug-in. How do I resolve this?
A: To solve this problem, check your Internet Explorer settings for popup blocker and trusted sites, which are addressed in this article.
