How do I sign up for an ASU email account?
Student Email
Before you access your Gmail for ASU account for the first time, make sure that all your email is being forwarded to Gmail for ASU by visiting http://www.asu.edu/emailsignup. You can then access your Gmail for ASU account in My ASU (http://my.asu.edu) or at https://email.asu.edu/. If you’d like to access your email with an email program, visit Access Gmail for ASU Account Using Favorite Email Program.
How can you ensure that you get email sent to you by professors and other students?
When you enroll and activate your ASURITE User ID1 at ASU, you are assigned an ASU email address. ASU will provide you with a free email account (called an IMAP account) or you can choose to receive your ASU email at an external email account (i.e. you@yahoo.com)
How do I subscribe for an ASU email account and other ASURITE services?
With the admission letter, a new student will receive an ASURITE User ID1, an activation code and instructions to go to http://www.asu.edu/asurite in order to activate the account. This will let the new student create the account from an off-campus computer and create his/her own password. Once the User ID has been activated and the student has registered and paid for classes, he or she can add services, including IMAP email.
Accessing your ASU Email through My ASU
ASU has a web-based interface to your ASU IMAP email account which allows you to check your ASU email from anywhere you can gain access to an Internet connection:
- Open up a browser and go to http://my.asu.edu
- Enter your ASURITE User ID and password
Employee Email
Both new and current ASU employees can create an Exchange mailbox. Exchange mailboxes are used by most ASU employees and offer many features, including mailbox delegation and advanced calendaring. To have an Exchange mailbox created, log in at the ASURITE Service Subscriptions page and choose ASU Main Campus Exchange (Outlook E-mail). Once your mailbox is created, make sure that all your email is being forwarded to your new mailbox by visiting http://www.asu.edu/emailsignup. You can then access your mailbox in My ASU (http://my.asu.edu) or at https://exchange.asu.edu/. If you’d like to access your mailbox with an email program, visit Configuring Email Clients for Exchange.
