Note: This document applies only to people who meet ALL of the following criteria:

• You must be a Mac user running Eudora
• You must be using Eudora to access their Exchange account
• You must be using Eudora in POP mode

Windows Eudora users are not affected. Mac Eudora users using IMAP are also not affected.

If a customer running Eudora for Mac attempts to check their Exchange account using POP, they may receive the following error: “-ERR Protocol error. 16”

To resolve this error, use the following steps:

1. Go to the File menu at the top of the screen and click New Text Document.

2. In the New Text Document window, enter the following text:
x-eudora-setting:12909=PLAIN

3. The text will turn blue. Double-click on the blue text. You will then see the following screen:

4. Click the Set Setting button.

5. Restart Eudora. You should now be able to check your mail normally.
